The Brunei Automobile Traders Association (BATA) wish to update the public on the measures that has been and are being carried out by BATA with regards to issue arise from the TAKATA Airbag Recall Worldwide. This issue comes after about 20 million vehicles produced by major automakers were recalled because of the risk that their Takata-made airbags could improperly inflate and rupture in the event of an accident.
In reassuring our commitment to ensure the safety of our customers and their confidence, BATA will take necessary steps by contacting the individual car owners affected to arrange for the replacement of the airbag inflators which was associated with the airbag issue as and when we received the parts. The challenges that BATA members have been facing is the availability of the inflators and also in our continuous effort contacting the customers because some of them have already either changed their contact numbers or car ownership. In this regard, BATA is working very closely with the Land Transport Department to obtain update details of our customers or the new owner of the vehicle to enable us to contact them directly. Our members has also been working very closely with our principles to expedite and accelerate the procurement of the inflators to speed up the replacement process.
Around 7000 vehicles comprise of 23 models from 6 Brands in the country namely Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and BMW, were affected by this recall campaign. BATA would like to reassure all customers that BATA members have an effective customer service system in place to address each customer’s needs and concerns.
