Launch of the 2015 Volkswagen Vento

Written by: Wanee Zahari,

Since it’s launch in early 2014, Vento has been the most popular model in the Volkswagen line-up and one of Brunei’s top 10 selling cars.

Vento has already been known with its combination of high performance, low fuel consumption and class-leading safety.  Now, Vento is back with a new all-new look.

The new Vento is slightly longer (+6 mm) compared to previous model and has the latest Volkswagen design ‘DNA’ – new headlamps, a larger grille with three horizontal bars and a redesigned bumper that accentuate the car’s width from the front. The fog lamps are also wider and placed at the edges of the lower air intake grille.

The design revisions also include the rear tail lamps, which boosts a 3D appearance that portrays a distinct Volkswagen ‘light signature’ during night time. Convenience can be found to the user’s ease as the new Vento is integrated with a soft-touch opener on its boot lid.

Answering to the requests’ of Vento owners, a new central armrest has been implemented. The armrest also provides storage facility, making it comfortable and convenient for the driver and front passenger.

The car also features a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel has conveniently-placed controls so the driver can easily operate the ‘RCD320’ in-car entertainment system and multi-function display, or answer a telephone call through Bluetooth.

Powered by a powerful and reliable 1.6 MPI engine, the new Vento has a torque of 153 Nm, the highest output of its class. This ensures an abundant acceleration in all driving conditions, even if the car is fully loaded.

With a 6-speed automatic gearbox with Tiptronic manual control, the new Vento features is up to par with features that is only found in much more expensive car models.

If you’re worried about safety, the new Vento’s body shell and its laser-welded roof is extremely rigid and it also has an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and four airbags – including side airbags that protect the occupants in side-on impacts.

Three-point seat belts are fitted for all five seats – an uncommon feature for this class of car – while child safety is taken care of by dual ISOFIX mounting points on the rear seats. The front passenger airbags can be deactivated in case a rear-facing child seat is used in front. Additionally, all the power windows are fitted with an anti-pinch device.

The new Vento price starts from $21,800 with a $1,000 discount for early bird bookings.
