Indera Motors Sendirian Berhad, the sole distributor of both the Jaguar and Land Rover brands in Brunei, has recently launched one of the latest versatile and compact SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicle), the Land Rover Discovery Sport.

In-charged of this launching, which is held at the Empire Theatre, Jerudong, is Indera Motors Sdn Bhd's Executive Chairman, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Idris.

The Discovery Sport's launching event becomes an important point in the histories of both the mentioned company and the Land Rover brand, which, for 66 years have provided its best services to its customers.

The Discovery Sport has a compact design, which includes a set of seats of a 5+2 configuration, and a combination of intergrated engineering and designs.

The new Discovery Sport model received quite a welcoming with its futuristic presentation, its thin-grilled pointy front which is quite similar to those of previous Land Rover models, and its LED lights and C-pillar roof which makes the Discover Sport look massive and threatening. In my opinion, its design is similar to the Range Rover Evoque's, except larger.

In Brunei Darussalam markets, the Discovery Sport will be fitted with a 2.0 Direct Fuel Injection Turbocharged engine with a 9-speed transmission, and a compact six cylindered performance package that lightens its weight and lessens CO2 emissions down to 20%.

Various innovations make the Discovery Sport outstandingly unique such as its Variable-ratio, electronic power-assisted steering (EPAS) and MagneRide adaptive dampers. The Discovery Sport has the capability to pass smoothly through various on-road situations due to the techs installed to it including Hill Descent Control (HDC), Gradient Release Control (GRC), Wade Sensing, Roll Stability Dynamic (DSC), Electronic Traction Control (ETC) and Engine Drag Torque Control (EDC).

Latest additions to the Discovery Sport include an infotainment system that comes with an 8-inch touchscreen, and an airbag that promotes safety in-case accidents occur. Other techs include the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), lane change warning system, Traffic Sign Recognition, HD surround view camera system, automatic lights, reverse sensor, HDD satellite navigation system, and parking assist.

The three Land Rover Discovery Spoty variants are S, SE and HSE which are currently being sold at an introductory price.
