Grand Motors Sdn Bhd has revealed the all-new Kia Picanto GT Line for the first time last Friday which was held at the Kia Motors Sdn Bhd Showroom in Beribi, Gadong.

Now in its third-generation, the new Kia Picanto brings better quality, technology and versatility. It is a new, more youthful and energetic character to the A-segment. Boasting an assertive new design and a high-quality, high-tech new cabin, the latest model also offers buyers greater potential for customisation and promises to be the most versatile car in its class.

The Picanto is one of Kia’s best-selling models around the world as it has a modern design of the outgoing Picanto. Design has been a strength of the brand since 2006 when it employed Peter Schreyer, the man behind the original Audi TT, as its Chief Design Officer. He has revolutionised the look of Kia's cars and this is evident in the new Picanto.

The All-New Kia Picanto also has low running costs, its compact dimensions for city driving, and the high level of equipment available for the money. The new model retains these strengths, and now offers a new level of dynamism and performance, as well as introducing the latest technologies for in-car connectivity and enhanced safety. For these reasons Grand Motors Sdn Bhd are confident that the new Picanto will help them further build their profile and market share in this very competitive segment.

The new Picanto is powered by Kia’s Kappa 1.2-liter dual-CVVT MPI engine (84ps @ 6,400rpm, 1,248cc) with piston-cooling jets and coated piston rings is feisty and capable, yet also quiet and efficient. Grand Motors Sdn Bhd offers a 4-speed automatic transmission that offers quiet operation and shift points that are set to maximize smoothness even in stop-and-go city traffic, and a 5-speed manual transmission features friction-reduction measures for lasting performance, and lets you select gears quickly with confidence.

The exterior of the car has a form and function that is all worked out. It is very sportive and has a space that can fit your sporting gears. The new Picanto gives you that other urban must-have-flexibility.

The Picanto has a projected headlamps and fog lamps that comes with LED daytime running lights (DRL), LED-type rear combination lamps, side repeaters, chrome grip-type door handles, 15" alloy wheel and a high-mounted stop lamp. The nose of the car has a grille and front spoiler separated by the front bumper, along with headlights and fog lights which looks purposeful, while the side profile is subtly sculpted with just one line running from the headlights to the C-shaped rear lights, plus another connecting the wheel arches along the bottom of the doors.

The interior of the All-New Kia Picanto has a stylish dashboard that groups driving, entertainment and climate controls with logical ingenuity. It feels spacious, wide-open and impressively modern. It has a motor-driven power steering (MDPS) which simplifies turning, while a tilt steering column lets you find the most comfortable driving position. A segmented cluster between the instrument dials keeps vital information front-and-center. It also has a mono LCD located between the instrument dials for the clear, sporty-looking supervision speedometer, rev counter, fuel gauge, tire pressure alerts and other essential vehicle and trip information at a glance.

The Kia Picanto has a high performance audio system that comes with an optional five-speaker 3.0 audio system with RDS that includes a monochrome TFT LCD screen. In addition to radio, it offers connectivity with portable devices through its AUX and USB inputs. It also has an auto and manual temperature control.

It also has an audio remote control mounted on the steering wheel which lets you adjust audio functions while driving. Regarding safety, the Picanto uses more than 44% Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS), resulting in phenomenal rigidity. And hot-stamping of components is employed in core stress areas. These measures greatly improve average body tensile strength, enhancing cabin protection and improving dynamic performance.

It also comes with other safety features such as braking system, Parking Distance Warning - Reverse (PDW - R), rear view camera with dynamic guidelines, Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC).

Another important safety features the All-New Kia Picanto offers are driver and front passenger airbags, two front-side airbags and two side-curtain airbags to help protect occupants and potentially reduce injuries in the event of a collision.
